PSA for people still in schoolYour teachers aren’t trained to deal with depression or basically any mental health issues. Some of us may very well be familiar with it, but that’s because teachers come from all sorts of educational backgrounds themselves, and many do have a background in psychology.
But we are trained to make ourselves approachable to our students, to listen to our students, to take them seriously when they approach us about these things, and we are told about the structures that are in place for your benefit and to direct you to them. Any teacher worthy of being a teacher is an excellent first point of contact for if you need help.
